Missed #49 :( But things look good for doing/trying #74

#49- Last night was a total lunar eclipse that should have been visable from here in Michigan....but sadly, it wasn't. I'd really been looking forward to crossing this one off....but the sky was one giant cloud all last night & I never was able to see the moon. I guess there should be another total lunar eclipse visable from America in August. Hopefully the weather will be better.

#74- My sister & I did some serious looking into this one today. And I may be learning to fly a plane. We went to this private airport where they teach you this morning. We got a tour & all the info about prices & what-not for getting a private pilots license. It's insanely expensive but you pay small chunks of it after each lesson. I've never been in a flying plane before in my life. I'd say I'd never been in one at all, but today we got to climb into the planes, so I was actually in my first plane today. Anyway, my sister says she'll pay for our first lesson when school gets out. So I may fly in April. The instructor who showed us around said the first lesson you actually get to fly a plane. Exciting & a bit frightening. I dont know if I'll really have the money to continue lessons after the first one, but even if i don't, flying the first time would still be worth it.

Starting things but haven't finished any.....

#9- I picked up a boxed set at the book store a while ago that included a harmonica & a book on learning to play. I can play twinkle twinkle little star...but only with the book open on my lap... I'm not apparently very musically talented. They've been gathering dust lately...

#14- Also picked up a book on learning to Belly Dance shortly before the holidays. I opened it up & attempted some of the techniques one day...it turns out teaching yourself to dance from a book is mildly impossible. Painful as well, my stomach was sore for days afterwords. I got a Dvd that should help for x-mas but I've yet to open it. I'll get to it.....eventually.
As far as those Ballroom dance classes go....well, they just didn't happen. I still hope to learn but i guess not in the near future.

#53- Been planning this one out. At one point my boyfriend & I were very excited about the road trip idea but it seems to have been pushed to a back burner. I would very much like it to happen in the next handfull of years & its much more likely to since I've taken a serious look at how long it'll take, where we'll want to stop, & how much it'll cost.

#57- Making some progress here. I've watched a lot of movies the last few months. I've recently crossed out all of the following; The Breakfast Club (pretty great), Caddyshack (cute), Barbarella (awfull, i swear it was a porn with no sex...very weird), American Beauty (very good), Big Wednesday (was okay), Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn (very, very stupid), The Big Lebowski (mildly entertaining), Breakfast at Tiffany's (i loved it), Blade Runner (good), Das Boot (had its dry spots, was depressing & way to long but i got into it), Blue Velvet (bad), Casino (okay)& Scrooge (I was suprised that i liked this one).

#57- Two more down, a million to go...

I've watched two more movies off the list. Annie Hall, which was pretty lame. Just not my type of movie. The two main characters were intensly crazy...& yet they kept reminding me of me & my boy. Weird. And then I watched Arsenic & Old Lace today. Black & white but not to bad. I saw a play of it a long time ago but it was missing a lot of the crazyness of the movie. It was very funny.

#57 - 2001:A Space Odyssey- Watch at your own risk!

I was looking through a stack of old VHS movies we have the other day and came across the 2nd movie on this list, 2001: A Space Odyssey. I watched it & I think it was the worst movie I've ever seen. It was only a little over 2 hours long but it seriously felt like 6. The most boring movie in the history of movies. I think the highlight was the twenty minutes of random colors. I recommend playing cards to keep yourself awake while watching it. Dont understand how that got on a list of greatest movies.

Also, I signed up for a 2 week trial of Blockbuster Online last night so I'll hopefully be crossing many more movies off my list before the end of the month. Maybe I'll even get half way through the list!:p

For starters, the list

So I decided to be cool & have my own blog where i can post my progress completing my 101 Things To Do. I'm definately not going to complete the list exactly as is in the book (if you dont know what I'm talking about look into picking up a copy of Richard Horne's 101 Things To Do Before You Die).... to much of it can't really happen....& then theres a lot more that I have on my own personal list... I haven't quite decided what of the book is do-able & what I should replace with my own things...or even what my own things should be...

So yeah...here's the list as it is...& my thoughts & what I've completed so far... The things in red I've completed, in orange are the ones I've partially completed, and green are the ones i think I'm going to replace.

1. Write A Best Seller- I can't decide whether or not to replace this one. I suppose I should since its ungodly unlikely that I'll ever write a book let alone get one published (we wont even consider it reaching best seller). And yet....Apparently some part of me secretely hopes that one day I might get into writing. I think I'll leave it for a few years.

2.Throw A House Party When Your Parents Are Out- I dont want to replace this one cuz its something I always wanted to do... but i kind of doubt it'll ever happen. It's one of those things your supposed to do while still a kid. I think I missed it. Of course, my mom never really left....

7. Be Part Of A Threesome- This one was on my list long before I found this book. I just need to find an acceptable third person...

8.Realise Your Childhood Dream- I need to figure out what that is first.

9. Learn that Instrument- I can't decide what to learn though. Drums? Piano? Or Harmonica?

10. Leave Your Mark In Graffiti- The big questions being where, when & what, cuz it has to be cool & nicely done.

11. Storm Chase A Tornado- I imagine this will be quite the challenge. Scary but thrilling. I'm game...but not alone...

12. Get A Piece Of Art Into An Exhibition- I'll probably replace this with something as I really dont have much artisitic talent.

13. Meet Somone With Your Own Name- This will be weird. I'll feel completely silly trying to get someone to meet with me just cuz we have the same name...if i can even find another Mallory Dorman out there...

14. Ride the World's Biggest Rollar Coaster's- I have absolutely no desire to try this one. And I've already replaced it with...
Learn To Dance- Something I'd actually like to do. I've come pretty close lately to taking Ballroom dance but so far it hasn't worked out. I'm hoping I'll be in a class with my boy in December. And then Belly dancing...

15. Stage Dive Or Crowd Surf- I think I'd be a complete hypocrite if I did either. I hate going to concerts & getting kicked in the head by the assholes (no offense) who crowd surf. Also, I've seen some serious groping going on when chicks crowd surf. So I've definate plans to replace this one.

16. Get Into The Guiness Book Of World Records- I suppose that'd be neat but.... not neat enough to actually spend the rest of my life trying to do it. It's just never gonna happen. So I'm replacing it.

17. Own A Pointless Collection- I have several...but I think I might start a new one just for this...not sure what yet...

18. Study The Kama Sutra & Put Theory Into Practice- I've already completed 4 out of the 9 positions mentioned in the book. And suprisingly none were planned. I've tried a ton more but dont really know names for them....so I'll have to figure that out before I can fill in the "Other Positions You've Tried" section.

19. Master Poker and Win Big In A Casino- The problem with this one is that in order to win big you'll probably have to lose big several times. I'd really rather not waste the money. I'm going to change this..I'm thinking to Play Poker In A Casino (regardless of if you win or lose) or maybe just Win At Anything In A Casino.....hell, maybe just gamble at all.... I've never done it & I'm pretty chicken when it comes to risking money....so that'd be a challenge all on its own.

20.Get Backstage And Get Off With A Rock God- I need to do lots more concerts if I'll ever manage this one.

21. Be A Human Guinea Pig- I live in a college town...this shouldn't be very hard at all. Just want to find one that pays:)

22. Go Up In A Hot Air Balloon- Sounds amazing. Hopefully I can get over my fear of heights long enough to do it. And find the cash.....pretty expensive

23. Get Arrested- Been there, done that. Highly recomended. I've always thought everyone should try it at least once. I was lucky to get to do it while i was still underage...its not even on my record:) One of the two that I've completed.

24. See A Space Shuttle Launch- That'd be really cool..

25. Capture The Moment In An Award Winning Photograph- Unless I decide to be a photographer I dont think I'll be entering any photos in any sort of competitons. Doesn't even sound that cool. Replacing.

26. Bungee Jump- Ugh, no. Replacing.

27. See An Errupting Volcanoe- Sounds very cool.

28.Sky Dive- Again, not happening. I'd like to keep my guts inside of me all my life thanks. Replacing.

29. Meet Your Idol- Idol...Who is my idol anyway?

30. Stay In The Best Suite In A Five Star Hotel- And party like a rockstar!!! You know, drugs, sex, and rock & roll! All in the best suite.....what an exciting idea.

31. Experience Weightlessness- Probably will replace...as I'd actually like to be able to do all these things one day.

32. See The Aurora Borealis- Definately, sometime while I'm in Alaska....As I'd love to go to Alaska anyway...

33. Get To Score A Hole In One- I may just decide that my first puttputt hole in one will have to count for this.....I dont really think I want to spend a whole lot of time playing golf....it sounds sort of boring...but I'll look into it.

34. Design Your Own Cocktail- Done this one...haven't filled it out yet though...not sure about it...

35.Play A Part In Your Favorite TV Show- Maybe as an extra someday...though i dont really even know what my favorite tv show is...& I hope not to spend a whole lot more of my life watching tv..may replace it...

36. Visit Every Country- I'll take the plan B, every continent.

37. Make Fire Without Matches- Suprised I never did that in girl scouts...

38. See These Animals In The Wild...- Seen 4 of the 20. Need to do quite a bit of traveling to complete it.

39. Go To The Dogs- My sister says that theres greyhound racing somewhere in like Detroit or something. That sounds fun. I could probably find horse racing not to far away too but pigeon & camel...that might take a while..

40. Get A Free Upgrade On A Plane- Was informed recently that they dont really do that anymore...I'll still try for it though....whenever i get around to flying...

41.Be Friends With Your Ex- I've never really had any ex's....& I'd really actually like never to....The one I'm with would really be good to keep forever...but we'll see how that goes...

42. Hit Your Targets- I've always wanted to do this one.

43. Throw A Dart Into A Map And Travel To Where It Lands- This one's very cute. It would make for quite the random trip.

44. Attend a Film Premiere- I have no idea how you find out about and/or get invited to them though.

45.Do A Runner From A Fancy Resturant- This reminds me of an episode of That 70's Show. I need to find some people to do it with me...

46. Scuba Dive- As soon as I have $500 extra bucks I'd like to get certified. That'd be awesome.

47. Milk A Cow- If only I had a cow...

48.Be Present When Your Country Wins The World Cup- I'm changing this one to
Attend At Least One Major Sporting Event- That way I have room to make it something I might actually be interested in...maybe the olympics...

49. See Both Solar And Lunar Eclipses- Should be able to cross lunar of the list in March & solar off in Aug of 2008.

50. Write Your Name Over A Star On The Walk Of Fame- I wonder if you would actually get in any sort of troubel for this? I mean...just with chalk...

51. Learn Another Language- Been planning on this one for years now. I just never get around to it.

52. Read The Greatest Books Ever Written- Only have a small percentage of these done.....weird considering how much I read...Could probably do this one in the next year or two though.

53. Complete A Coast To Coast Road Trip Across America- As soon as i got this book Fred & I started trying to plan this out. Whenever it happens, its gonna be freaking amazing...but its gonna take quite a while too..

54. Make At Least One Huge Purchase You Cant Afford- Erm....I dunno....I've made a lot of small purchases I couldnt afford...which is why i owe so much on my credit card. I would have to wait til I've got my card paid off but once I have it paid off I dont think I'll want to owe money again....

55. Score The Winning Goal/Try/Basket- I dont do the sports thing....at all...so I'll be replacing this one..

56. Crash An A List Party- I'll have to find one first...

57. See The All Time Greatest Films- The list is definately NOT of the greates films...I'm working through it anyway....Haven't gotten to far yet.

58. Live In The Place You Love- I plan on it someday.

59. Leave A Job You Hate- I've actually done this....but it wasn't anything special... I didn't swear or tell them they sucked or anything memorable like that. I dunno if I should fill it out yet or wait.....maybe I'll leave another job I hate & do it in style this time.

60. Take Part In A Police Line Up- How do you get to do that? You just sign up or ask or something? Somehow I doubt its that easy....

61. Get Away With The Perfect Practical Joke Or Hoax- I hope this comes to me one day...cuz I've got no clue right now...

62. Join the Mile High Club- :) Sounds like a good time.

63. Make The front Page Of A National Newspaper- Prolly gonna replace this one...that'll just never happen...

74. Learn To Fly A Plane- First though, learn not to be scared of being in a plane.

75. Get A Tattoo And/Or A Piercing- Check. Nose is pierced. Filled it out. Starred it. I'll put another star on the page once I get my first tattoo.

76. Invent Something- Probably not gonna do that...ever. I'm thinking I'll replace it.

77. Learn Astronomy And Read The Night Sky- I can find the big dipper...does that count for anything? No? I guess I'll look into it then...

78. Drink A Vintage Wine- I'm sure Fred can help me out with this one. But I'd like to do it somewhere special.

88. Get Married Unusually- I think It'll just be get married....i only want to do it once...& I'd want it to be perfect, not unusual.

94. Get Something Named After You- I've kind of already done this....well...i made a cocktail & my friends who drank it call it the Mal. But i think I'll actually end up replacing this one.

95. Get Revenge- Dont have anyone to seek revenge on at the moment.

97. Live Out Of A Van- Maybe for the month or two of a road trip.
